Good afternoon!

We started off the day today by having our weekly spelling test.  The children did very well.  The marked spelling tests will be going home with them tonight.  We also worked in our spelling books and practiced proofreading skills via a journal entry.
In math we had a review period in preparation for the unit test happening next Tuesday.  The children completed the final page in their unit which required them to review the entire chapter to see what they have learned.  Additionally, I have prepared a study sheet and sent that home with every student in their home folder. This study sheet covers the range of material we worked on over the unit.  This should be completed over the weekend so they can see where they are for Monday's final review period.
In science we continued working on liquids, solids and gases.  We had a review session on the three elements and further discussed their importance in the environment. The children then sorted various items into categories based on if they were gases, solids or liquids.
In our show-and-tell session the rest of the children presented their items to the class.  We saw favourite toys, favourite clothes, favourite movies, and more.  It was a great way to practice presentation skills for the upcoming culture project!
The children also went to french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, re-write incorrect spelling words 10 times each, math page 73 - 74, and complete math review sheet.

Important information:  Many things of interest went home in your child's home folder today.  Marked spelling tests, information on the upcoming movie night, February pizza forms, completed work, and a party invitation.  Please make sure to review these forms as needed over the weekend.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Nelson
