Good afternoon!

The children were welcomed back this morning after what seems like a restful weekend away.  To start off the day the children recorded their new weekly spelling words and worked in their spelling books.  We then did cursive where the children were asked to write a letter to the person of their choice telling them three sentences about what they did over the weekend.  The children worked on prefixes, and special sounds in language.  During math time the students worked on 'buying' different items and used trial and error methods to find the perfect amount of coins.  We also had another math money challenge which Jessica won today!  During social studies the children had a computer research period where they were given time to research online articles to help them find the remaining information needed for their culture project.  The children also went to french and art classes.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice spelling words, cursive page 70, and Letters and Sounds page 58 - 59.

Important information:  Scholastic book order forms went home with your child tonight.  If you are interested in having anything ordered, please send in a cheque and the form by the 14th of Jan (Friday).  This Wednesday is pizza day for those children having pizza.  More children are coming to school with their reading charts filled out which is great, but many children still need to get in more of a habit of reading and showing what they have been reading.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
