Good afternoon!

I wanted to remind all parents and families that Remembrance Day falls on Sunday of this weekend.  This is a very special holiday that helps Canadians remember the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.  Canadians often wear poppies to show their support of veterans and for the sacrifices they have made for our country and its citizens.

This Sunday please remember to show your support at 11:11am with either a moment of silence at home or at your local cenotaph.

I know that I will be attending a ceremony at John McCrae school.  This is an important landmark in Guelph, as this is the hometown and childhood house of Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, the author of the famous poem 'In Flanders Fields'.

Additionally, any child who participates in Remembrance Day events will be awarded 10,000 house points from their homeroom teacher.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Nelson
