Good afternoon!

Thank you to everyone who made last night's concert a success.  I think everyone had a wonderful time celebrating the Christmas season.
In the hast of yesterday and today, agendas and home folders did not go home.  This is not a problem as we will just resume the routine in January when we return.  Please just encourage your children to continue reading over the holiday.
Have a happy and safe Christmas everyone!

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson

Hello!

We had a full day of dress rehearsals today.  I am very excited to see everyone at the Christmas concert tonight!

Important information:  We had our weekly spelling test today because of the shortened day tomorrow.  Marked spelling tests will be coming home with the children tonight.

I am going to send the costumes home with the students today (if they are not in choir) so that they can come to school dressed as angels on tonight.  Students who are in choir need to come to school dressed in their choir costumes. Their angel costumes will be waiting in the classroom to change into as soon as the choir is done performing.

Students from our class that are in the choir are Ninara, Seanna, Zuri, Emerald, Taha, Sofia, and Angela.

If you have any questions about the concert or costumes please see the drama blog.

Tomorrow is a half day.  Students will be ready to be picked up at 11:30.  After-school charges will begin at noon.  Tomorrow is also a red and green spirit dress-up day.

We will be having a class party tomorrow.  If you would like to send in any treats for your child to hand out that would be great.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson

Bonjour!

We had a full day of rehearsals today.  The school came together in the morning and afternoon and rehearsed the play in full multiple times.  In between rehearsals we worked on language where the children practiced special sounds, vowel sounds, picture words, rhyming words and worked on cursive writing.  We also read another chapter of Charlotte's Web.  The students also went to french and P.E classes.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice weekly spelling words for tomorrow's test, Letters and Sounds page 80 - 81 and cursive page 68 - 69.

Important information:  Due to the shortened day on Friday we are going to be having our weekly spelling test tomorrow morning.  Please make sure your child does any final studying of their spelling words tonight in preparation for tomorrow's test.

As I stated in my post last night,  many children are coming to school with their homework not completed, or forms and letters not delivered where they are meant to go.  In hopes of opening the lines of communication between home and school, I am going to start rewarding students with house points and stickers every time they have their agendas signed by a parent.  This way I can be certain that all homework and important information is being seen by parents, and any messages are being communicated back to me.  I started this system this morning and only a few students were awarded stickers and house points.  Please make sure to check and sign agendas nightly.

We are going to be having dress rehearsals all day again tomorrow in preparation for Thursday night's concert.  Please make sure that all costumes are being sent into school to be available for these rehearsals because tomorrow we are actually going to be dressing up in them for the rehearsal.  I am going to send the costumes home with the students tomorrow afternoon (if they are not in choir) so that they can come to school dressed as angels on tomorrow night.  Students who are in choir need to come to school dressed in their choir costumes. Their angel costumes will be waiting in the classroom to change into as soon as the choir is done performing.

If you have any questions about the concert or costumes please see the drama blog.

The last day of school is a half day.  Students will be ready to be picked up at 11:30.  After-school charges will begin at noon.  This day is also a red and green spirit dress-up day.

We will be having a class party on the 16th.  If you would like to send in any treats for your child to hand out that would be great.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson

Good afternoon!

We had another full school rehearsal today to start off the morning.  The concert is getting better and better with each day!  Once we returned to class the children worked on language where they practiced rhyming words, suffixes, finished sentences and worked on cursive.  We also read another chapter of Charlotte's Web together as a class.  In our IB unit of inquiry we read a book called 'Energy Makes Things Happen' and saw all the different types of energy, ways we use energy and ways that energy is transferred between objects.  The students then wrote a summary of what they learned in their journals.  Ask your child to tell you what they wrote about tonight!  In math the students worked on correcting patterns (grade one) and word problems (grade two).  The students also went to french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, Letters and Sounds page 78 - 79, cursive page 66 - 67, and math page 99.

Important information:  Unfortunately many children are coming to school with their homework not completed, or forms and letters not delivered where they are meant to go.  In hopes of opening the lines of communication between home and school, I am going to start rewarding students with house points and stickers every time they have their agendas signed by a parent.  This way I can be certain that all homework and important information is being seen by parents, and any messages are being communicated back to me.  I am going to be beginning this system tomorrow morning.

We are going to be having dress rehearsals all day tomorrow and Thursday in preparation for Thursday night's concert.  Please make sure that all costumes are being sent into school to be available for these rehearsals.  I am going to send the costumes home with the students on Thursday (if they are not in choir) so that they can come to school dressed as angels on Thursday night.  Students who are in choir need to come to school dressed in their choir costumes. Tomorrow is casual day for all children that have paid to participate.

We will be having a class party on the 16th.  If you would like to send in any treats for your child to hand out that would be great.

Mrs. Nelson

Good afternoon!

We started off the day today with a whole-school dress rehearsal for the upcoming Christmas concert.  The concert is really coming together which is great to see!  All children must bring their angel costumes to school to be able to participate in the dress rehearsals.  The following students are still missing their angel costumes: Ninara, Adi, Emerald, Zuri (missing wings and halo), Sofia, Taha (missing wings and halo), and Alex.  We are having our next dress rehearsal tomorrow morning so please make sure that costumes are being sent in.  For those children in choir, choir costumes are not needed until the night of the concert.  Children should come to school wearing their red and black costumes and will change into their angel costumes after performing the choir song.  When we returned to the classroom the children copied down their new weekly spelling words and worked in their spelling books.  We also worked on language where the children practiced adding suffixes to root words, finished sentences and worked on cursive.  They also went to french and P.E classes.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice weekly spelling words, cursive pages 64 - 65, Letters and Sounds pages 76 - 77, and Spelling workbook pages 58 - 60 (grade one) and 54 - 56 (grade two).

Important information:  TOMORROW IS NOT CASUAL DAY.  The school calendar had a mistake in the date.  Casual day is going to be on Wednesday, December 14th.

The last day of school is a half day.  Students will be dismissed beginning at 11:30.  After school care charges will begin at noon sharp.

We will be having a class party on the 16th.  If you would like to send in any treats with your child to be handed out please feel free.  The last day is also a red and green spirit day.  All children may come to school dressed in red and green.

Please have your children at school between 6:30 and 6:45 the night of the concert.  This will help to ensure that everyone is ready and organized for the concert which begins right at 7pm.

If you have any questions about the costumes or concert please don't hesitate to contact me or Mrs. Deras.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
