It has been a wonderful first year for me at St. Jude's Academy.  I want to thank all of you for making it so great.  Our class had a lot of fun times together, and I know we all learned a great deal as well!

I hope everyone has a safe, and fun summer.  I look forward to seeing everyone back again in September.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson

Good afternoon!

We had a wonderful day today at Canada's Wonderland! All the children really seemed to enjoy themselves. Please don't forget the half day tomorrow. It is the last day of school so we are having an end-of-the-year party. If you would like to send in a treat for the students please feel free!

Good afternoon!

In today's class we started off the day with language.  We read the last chapter of Pipi Longstocking and the children wrote their final response in their language books.  The children also worked on cursive.  In math we continued working on division with the children.  They had groups of objects and groups of people that they had to divide into groups or sections.  They have done very well with this concept!  In history we read the final chapter in the history book we have been reading this year.  The chapter was about the end of Rome.  All the students have done very well with the concepts in history over the year and I am very pleased to see all that they have learned and remembered.  Ask your child tonight to tell you about their favourite part of history that we have studied.

Important information:  All children are bringing home their work and supplies that have been accomplished over the year tonight.

Tomorrow is the Canada's Wonderland trip!  The bus leaves the school at 9am sharp.  So please make sure your children are here on time if they are coming on the trip.  Please see the notice from Canada's Wonderland below.  Lunches are not allowed to be brought into the park, so please make sure you send money along with your children for snacks and lunches.

Tonight is Graduation Night.  Children should come to school for 6:50pm dressed nicely for the event.

We are having a classroom end-of-the-year party on Friday.  If you would like to send any snacks or treats for the class that would be welcomed!

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson

Good afternoon!

We had a great day today working on a lot of 'finishing-up' as we only have two and a half days left of school!  We started off the day working on language.  The children edited sentences and practiced proofreading in their journals.  During math today we continued working on fractions and division with the children.  They had a lot of fun with today's activities!  Ask them today to tell you what they learned about remainders.  During history we read about the fall of Rome. The children then wrote about Atilla the Hun in their journals who was a Barbarian that had a lot to do with the fall of Rome.  The children also went to french and P.E classes.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, cursive page 114 - 115, and Math Makes Sense page 242 - 245.

Important information:  Please make sure your children are bringing a plastic bag or something with them to school tomorrow to bring home all their school work and supplies. Everything they have brought and collected over the year is going home with them tomorrow so they will need something extra to carry it home in.

Tomorrow night is Graduation Night.  The children should plan on being at school tomorrow for 6:50pm dressed nicely.  They do not have to wear their uniforms.  It is also going to be the night of the used uniform sale for parents who are interested in buying or selling uniforms.

Thursday is Canada's Wonderland.   Please see the message from Canada's Wonderland below about the rules of the park.  Lunches are not allowed to be brought into the park.

On Friday we are having our end of the year party for our class.  If you would like to send your children in with any treats please feel free!

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson

Good afternoon!

We started off the day today working on language.  The children worked on proofreading sentences.  They also worked on cursive.  During math we worked on multiplication and division which is a popular unit with the students.  Ask them tonight to share with you what they have learned about multiplication and division!  During history we read about the end of the ancient Jewish nation and the children decorated and created their own dreidels.  They also went to french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in their reading chart, cursive pages 112 - 113 and math pages 208 - 209.

Important information:  Many children in our class are still missing their Canada's Wonderland forms and money for the trip that is happening this Thursday.  Please make sure that you are paying the money and bringing in the form ASAP if your child is planning on coming.   Jewel, Klara, Victoria, and Temi are still not confirmed as coming on the trip yet.

Graduation Night is taking place this Wednesday night at 7pm.  All children should attend the ceremony as class awards will be given out at this time as well.  Please plan on arriving at 6:50pm that evening.

I am going to be sending home the children's school work and supplies this week.  If you could please send your child in with a bag to carry their supplies back home that would be great!

Friday, June 10th, we are going to be having an end of the year classroom party! If you would like to send in any treats for the class please feel free!

I have some photos that were taken at last Friday's Track and Field event.  Enjoy!
