Good afternoon!

The children had a lot of fun today sharing their stories during show-and-tell.  Many interesting things, such as instruments, food and personal artifacts were brought in to share with the class.  It was a great way to practice presenting for our upcoming oral presentations.  We are looking forward to the next round of presentations (Nathan, Jewel, Abel, Shannon, Alex and Klara).  Today we also had our weekly spelling test.  Children will be bringing home their marked spelling tests with them tonight.  In math we worked on counting and subtraction (grade one) and times zones and double digit problems (grade two).  In science we continued with our new unit, and the students worked on case studies about children who have encountered dangerous chemicals and discussed how these situations should be handled.  The children also went to french class today.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in reading chart, and re-write incorrect spelling words.

Important information:  I am noticing that many children are coming to school with reading charts that have not been filled out in quite some time.  Some children have not indicated any home-time reading in over a month.  Please make sure that your children are reading at home and inputting their reading into their charts.  The children earn reading certificates when they have completed 5 charts, which is a goal many children still need to complete!

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Nelson
