Good afternoon!

We had a really fun Friday!  They started off the day by working on their weekly spelling tests and in their spelling books.  The marked spelling tests will be going home with them tonight. After spelling tests the children worked on language where they distinguished between short and long vowel sounds.  We watched  a video called 'Stories From Around the World' which had guided reading of popular children's stories from countries around the world.  It was a nice way to become more knowledgeable and open-minded which are important IB learner qualities.  We had an IB art project today, where the children made collages about their families.  It was a fun way for them to find words and images that they connected with.  They also went to french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, re-write any incorrect spelling words ten times each in their spelling notebooks, and Letters and Sounds page 8 - 9.

Important information:  The field trip is taking place this coming Wednesday.

Nest Friday is a P.D day which means the children do not have to come to school.

Due to a math conference I attended yesterday afternoon I was not at school for dismissal.  A few children did not bring home their original math tests last night in my absence.  Because of this, I had to move the math re-test to Monday so that all parents have a chance to view the original test and review concepts with their child prior to the re-test.  This means all children have the weekend to study if they are re-writing the test.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Nelson
