Good afternoon!

We had a great day today.  We started off the day working in our new Letters and Sounds books.  The children worked on vowel sounds and identified consonants.  Once that was completed we moved on to our IB unit of inquiry.  The children continued turning their rough copy interview sheets into their good copy booklets.  Please see my posting from last night to view the rubric on what I am expecting the children to achieve with this assignment.  During math today the children worked on theuir math on last time before tomorrow's math test.  The grade ones worked on more than and the grade twos worked on subtraction sentences.  We also worked on cursive 'a' today.  The children also went to music and french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice weekly spelling words, finish cursive pages 7 - 8 and math pages 32 - 34 (grade two).

Important information:
  • Our first math unit test is taking place tomorrow.
  • Tomorrow is SJA's first casual day.  If your child has paid to dress casually, they may come to school in whatever casual clothing that would like.
  • Please make sure the forms and assignments I am sending home in your child's home folders are being taken out and kept at home.
  • Please see the rubric that I posted last night for the interview booklet.  I posted this so that you may review it at home with your child as well to ensure they are fully prepared to succeed.
  • Please send in any old magazines or coloured flyers with your child tomorrow.  We are working on an art project in class and need magazines to complete it.
  • All children have brought home a field trip form for the Bradley Museum.  Please send in the completed form and the $15 by Friday.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
