Good afternoon!

In today's class we started off the day by having our weekly spelling test and working in our spelling books.  The children were asked to proofread sentences, and then go back through and reflect on the last 4 weeks of spelling words.  This is a good way to make sure they are keeping their spelling words fresh in their mind.  The marked spelling tests will be coming home with your children tonight.  During language the children worked on prefixes and suffixes.  They were asked to separate suffixes and prefixes from words, and identify words with suffixes and prefixes in them.  During science time we had a wrap-up video about liquids, solids and gases.  The children watched the video, and then reflected on the science unit in their journals by recording one meaningful fact that they have and will remember about liquids, solids and gases.  Again, another good way to reflect back on the learning that has been accomplished in this unit.  The children also went to french class.
In today's class we also had a mini good-bye party for Julia who was here on her last day.  On Monday she is starting at a new school.  She will be missed.

Homework: Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice poetry, and re-write incorrect spelling words 10 times each.

Important information:  The culture brochures will be going home with your children tonight.  They have been marked. The mark does not show on the brochure as it will come together with all the other final marks on the rubric after the presentations have been done.
Math re-tests were completed today.  The marked tests will be going home tonight.  Students who still require another test may write their final make-up test on Wednesday the 26th if they choose to.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Nelson
