Good afternoon!

It was nice to get back to school today after a weekend away!  We started off our day today by recording the new spelling words and working in our spelling books.  During language the children also worked on rhyming, matching, special sounds, vowel sounds and cursive.  During math we started our new unit:  addition and subtraction.  In today's class we worked on constructing and deconstructing numbers, and number lines.  We started a new literature activity today as well.  As a class we began reading Pipi Longstocking and then the children did an independent summary on what they read.  Pipi is an unusual character that I think will be a very fun and interesting story to read together!  The children also went to french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice weekly spelling words, cursive page 102 - 103, and complete chapter review if necessary.

Important information:  The SJA summer uniforms can now be worn.  These uniforms are not mandatory, but they are a nice, cool option to wear during the warmer weather (when it gets here!).  This uniform consists of their gray pants/tunic/skirt, with the SJA crested polo.  They do not have to wear a sweater or vest if they are wearing their polo shirt.

Progress reports are coming home on Friday with your children.

Scholastic book order forms are coming home with your child tonight.  If you are interested in purchasing anything from this order please send the forms and monies by Friday, May 6th, 2011.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
