Good afternoon!

In today's class we started off the day by practising working with root words and suffixes and contractions.  In language the children also worked on the sound 'c' makes when paired up with a 'e', 'i' or 'y', we read more from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and they finished writing their letters to Mr. Sawatsky's class.  In math the children estimated the time it took them to do various activities, and also timed the different things they could accomplish in one minute. We ended off the math period by having a snap cube competition!  In history we read more about the Americas and a fable about a rabbit trying to shoot the sun.  Ask you child to tell you about it tonight!  The children went to french class in the afternoon.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice the weekly spelling words for the spelling test tomorrow, and Letters and Sounds page 50 - 51 (grade 2).

Important information:  Please continue to check Mrs. Deras' blog for important information about the upcoming Christmas concert.  There are props that children need to start locating, and important lines to learn.  Mrs. Deras is also still looking for empty boxes to be wrapped up as Christmas presents.  So far our class has only brought in one gift box.
The class is heading to the ROM this coming Friday.
Tomorrow night the juniors are putting on Romeo and Juliet.  I hope all families from St. Jude's will have the opportunity to come and watch the play to support them and earn your child 2,500 house points!

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
