Good afternoon!

The students started off today by working on language.  They explored suffixes, root words and contractions and practised their cursive.  In the morning we also had a whole school dress rehearsal for the upcoming French Cafe.  The production is coming along very well and we are all getting very excited for the performance on Friday!   During math today the children worked on sorting data using multiple attributes (grade one) and analysing the sides and vertices of various shapes (grade two).   In the afternoon we had our second whole-school dress rehearsal to help us prepare for Friday's performance.  I can't wait for friends and family to see all the hard work!

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice weekly spelling words, Jump Math pages 190 - 191, and cursive pages 191.

Important information:  Miss. Elliott's class is having another Hot Dog Sale this Thursday.  Hot dog forms have gone home with all the children.  If you are interested in purchasing a hot dog (beef, halal chicken or veggie) for $2 for your child, please send in the form and money by Wednesday.

Miss. Elliotts's class is having an Anything and Everything Sale at both recesses tomorrow!  This sale is similar to a garage sale where a variety of items such as games, toys and clothing are going to be sold starting at 50 cents and ranging up to $5.00.  This has been a VERY popular sale in the past with a lot of great items bring sold.  If you would like your child to participate, please send money with them on Wednesday.  Any remaining items will be sold after school on Wednesday.

The French Cafe is taking place this Friday from 12 - 3pm at SJA.  All friends and family are welcome to attend this event.  Grandparents are especially welcome to attend, as this event is taking the place of the traditional Grandparent's Day concert. A light lunch will be served.  Details for the children's costumes can be found on Mme. Stella's blog.  I am still waiting for a number of families to RSVP: Adi,  Dumeir, Emerald, Seanna, Sofia, and Zuri.

There is going to be a book sale taking place the afternoon of the French Cafe.  Families and friends will have a chance to purchase used books at a reduced price.  Please keep this in mind when you come to attend the performance this Friday afternoon.  All proceeds will be collected and distributed by the Parent Guild.

Information for SJA Summer Camps are now available.  SJA offers a range of camps over the summer months with a variety of themes ranging from karate camps, to writing camps to traditional summer camps programs.  Please contact the school for more information about these exciting programs.

If your child is part of the SJA choir, please make sure they are practicing the choir song at home.  You can find the song lyrics athttp://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/theparenttrap/doyoubelieveinmagic.htm and play the song for them at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKyGyH9mWHk.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
