Good afternoon!

In today's class we started off the day by working on language.  The children practiced matching, rhyming, special sounds and finished sentences. During math we continued working on our geometry unit.  The children practiced tracing the faces of different 3D shapes, and answered 3D riddles.  We started a new unit in health today that focuses on nutrition and healthy eating.  The children are coming home with some nutrition information sheets which they are supposed to put on the fridge at home to help them make healthy food choices.  Our masks are almost completed after another period working with paper mache this afternoon.  It was another fun day of creativity!  The children also went to music, and french classes.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, practice spelling words for tomorrow's spelling test and math page 139 - 140.

Important information:  Scholastic book order forms are due tomorrow if anyone is interested in purchasing anything.

The information forms for the Grandparents' Day concert are due back tomorrow.

Skating field trip forms and the trip money for the skate-a-thon are due back tomorrow.

Ask your child tonight to fill you in on the amazing prizes that are up to be won for the skate-a-thon fundraiser.  The child who collects the most money in the school wins an Ipad!!!  Also, a PS3, an Ipod Touch,  a Lego set, a giant Barbie house and other great prizes can be won by your child by collecting donations!  Please have your child bring their pledge form  back to school as soon as they have collected any money.  Every time they bring in a donation they get house points, and their name is entered into a class draw to win a  prize!

Next week there is a bake sale being offered everyday at lunch recess to help raise money for the Haiti earthquake recovery fund.  Please see the email that went home regarding what is available and when.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
