Good afternoon!

In today's class we started off the day by with the new weekly spelling words.  The students also worked in their spelling books on proofreading, opposites and answering riddles. In math we had a review period, where the review sheet was taken up and discussed to make sure that all children were prepared for tomorrow's math test.  In language the students worked on completing sentences, recognizing special sounds, and practiced their cursive.  We started a new unit in social studies today called 'Communities, Traditions and Cultures.  In today's class the children were asked to generate their definitions of the word community.  Ask them to tell you tonight what community means!  The students also went to french and art classes.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes, practice spelling words, study for tomorrow's math test, Letters and Sounds pg 42 - 43 (grade two), and cursive page 60 (grade one)  57 - 58 (grade two).

Important information:  Tomorrow is our math test for unit two.  Please make sure the children are studying their review sheets tonight to ensure the best results.  Wednesday is pizza day and Casual Day. The St. Jude's fundraising effort is continuing.  Please make sure to have a look at the coffee order form, and send it back in if you are interested in purchasing any coffee!

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
