Happy Friday!

I hope you all have enjoyed the snowy weather today as much as the children at SJA did!  We started off the day today with our weekly spelling test.  The children will be bringing home their marked spelling tests with them tonight.  During language today the children worked on special sounds, vowel sounds, compound words and cursive.  In our IB Unit of Inquiry we had a fun day today reviewing the tips for conserving energy that we saw yesterday in the videos we watched together.   After the review the students got into pairs and created their own skits that focused on tips to help others conserve energy.  We got to see a lot of skits with different energy-saving ideas such as riding your bike instead of driving, changing to energy efficient light bulbs, and not using extra water needlessly.  It was a fun way to complete this part of our IB unit.   We had a treat at the end of the day today and watched Charlotte's Web together with Miss. M and Miss. Chang's classes.  This was a fun way to see the characters we have been hearing so much about! The students also went to french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, re-write incorrect spelling words ten times each, cursive page 86- 87, and Letters and Sounds page 92 - 93.

Important information:  An important package is being sent home with the youngest (or only) child in each family.  This package has information about the 2012/13 enrollment at SJA.  Please make sure to keep an eye out for this package and the important information it contains.

The SJA Gala has been scheduled for February 11th, 2012.  It begins at 6pm.  The theme for this year is 'Love Through the Ages'.  It is a great nice of dinner, dancing, silent auctions, and performances by all the classes.  Please make sure to mark this night on your calendars!  Anyone is invited to attend so please mention the event to your friends and family.

Thank you to all the families who have been making a point to read and sign your child's agenda nightly.  Most children are doing really well with this new system and I have encouraged them to keep up the good work!  Thank you for helping to keep the lines of communication open.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Nelson
