Good afternoon!

We started off the day today working on proofreading skills.  The students have really improved with this important skill which is great to see!  During language today we worked on compound words, suffixes, special sounds and opposites.  In our IB unit of inquiry today the children worked on their group stories about a life without the sun.  The groups read their stories for the class and everyone was impressed with the ideas that were presented!  In math today the children worked on closer and further (grade one) and missing numbers (grade two).  They also went to drama, french and P.E classes today.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart and practice weekly spelling words.

Important information:  The math re-test was written today.  The marked math tests will be coming home with the students tonight.

If you are interested in ordering any photos from the original picture day, the forms and money must be brought back to school by Friday, November 18th.

If your child is in the choir and would like to practice the choir song we are singing at the Christmas concert you can find a version of the song on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5W8VlUE88U
You can also find the lyrics for them to practice at http://www.lyricsmania.com/its_the_most_wonderful_time_of_the_year_lyrics_amy_grant.html.

As a reminder, the last day of school for the Christmas holidays is on December 16th.  This day is a half day which means children will be ready to be picked up at noon.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
