Good afternoon!

In today's class we started off the day by working in our language books.  The children worked on creating sentences and abc order (grade one) and two, to, too and sit, set and sat (grade two) and practiced cursive.  During math we had a review period for next Wednesday's math test.  The children were asked to review the unit in their books and pick out 6 facts or skills they have developed throughout the unit.  We also started a new unit in social studies today called Canada and The World.  In today's class we read some books about Canada, discussed some interesting facts about Canada, and did some work with the globe.  Ask your child tonight to tell you something they learned about Canada today!  The children also went to P.E and french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the spelling chart, practice spelling words, practice poetry, cursive page 83- 84, and math page 114.

Important information:  Pizza forms for the month of March went home with your child tonight.  Most children were credited one day for the day that was missed earlier this month due to the snow day.

Our in-class poetry competition is taking place this Thursday in class.  Please make sure your child is practicing their voice and enthusiasm every night.  I will be choosing winners from our class to go on and compete in the school-wide competition.

Next Wednesday, February 23rd we are having our next math unit test.

Best regards,

Mrs. Nelson
