Good afternoon!

In today's class we started off the day by practicing reading calendars.  The children were asked to look at the calendar for the month of October and find certain days; what day it will be one week from today, what day was the first Monday of the month, etc.  If you have time at home to look over your own family calendar with your child to further practice this important skill, that would be great.  The children also had their weekly spelling test, worked on ordinal numbers, read about life in early Crete in history, went to french class and began writing letters to Mr. Sawatsky's class about our trip to the zoo.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes and record in the reading chart, finish math pages 36 - 37 (if necessary) and finish the history colouring page (if necessary).

Important information:  Marked history tests have gone home with your child tonight.  A history re-test will be given on Wednesday at lunch recess for those children who got 84% and less.  Please review the test, and the study notes with your child.  We are giving out house points for healthy snacks during first recess.  If your child comes to school with a healthy snack (one that is unprocessed and does not contain any sugar.  Fruit, vegetables or cheese for example) they will earn house points!

Have a great weekend,

Mrs. Nelson
