Good afternoon!

In today's class we continued working on our science projects.  We had our last computer period where the children finished gathering information for their rough copies.  A few children have their science folders home with them tonight to collect additional information where needed.  Good copies begin being drafted on Friday, so all rough copies must be completed by then. We also worked on cursive, sentence construction, and comprehension practice.  The children also went for french and drama classes.  We have been doing a lot of work on listening to and/or reading information and pulling out important information.  In today's class the children were given short paragraphs and asked to pull out bits of information to test these skills.  I have sent home your child's marked comprehension work.

Homework for tonight:  Read for 15 minutes and record on reading chart, practice weekly spelling words, finish cursive writing (grade one: page 17, grade two: page 15 - 16), and bring back signed history test if they haven't already.

Important information:  Gym day is tomorrow, please have your child dressed in their gym clothes. Terry Fox Run is on Friday, so please ensure your grade one/two comes dressed in their gym clothes for our outdoor run.  If your child has raised any pledges, please send them in with the form and money.  Any Scholastic orders need to be in by this Friday.

Good afternoon!

We had a great spirit day today!  It was nice to see all the children in grades one and two come to school in their house colours to support their team.  As a school we played some fun house activities together, which was a great time.
In today's class we had our first spelling test.  Your child will come home with their marked test.  I ask that any words that were misspelled be written out ten times in their spelling books and brought back to class Monday morning.  We also practiced our numbers, read about the Babylonians, practiced cursive, and had french class.

Homework:  Read for 15 minutes each night and record in your reading chart, complete the rough copy of our science project using the information sheet provided, finish cursive pages 12 - 13 for grade two and 14 - 15 for grade one and complete their journal entry on the codes of Hammurabi if needed.

Important information:  A form has gone home with your child tonight about the Terry Fox run taking place next Friday.  If you would like to donate please fill out the form.  Last year St. Jude's came third place in donations out of every school in Ontario!  I also sent home completed work with your child in their home folder.  Please take a look through to see all the hard work your child has done so far this year!  This work can be kept at home, and does not need to come back to school.  Lastly, your child has also brought home Scholastic ordering forms with them.  If you would like to order any books or products for your child please send a cheque in with your child's order form by the 24th of September.

Have a great weekend,
